It's been just over a fortnight since I had my hip operation and my first outing on a bus for six months. I had to go for an eye test and combined it with a trip to Diggers for my lunch of pie and beans and a couple of drams. I don't miss the centre of town at all, particularly as it's Festival time. Too many tourists, sweaty unwashed bodies and cigarette smoke. I foolishly got the no. 1 bus from the West End to Diggers which passes Fountainbridge, a hub of hotels and Airbnbs. The bus was packed, I had words with more than one ignorant tourist. One US family had sufficient luggage for a whole village, with one of the cases the size of a small fuckin house!
Diggers was an oasis of calm
